What will be covered?

This course focusses on helping patients to make or sustain behaviour changes. Nearly all of our face to face consultations have patient behaviour atthe heart. Either to make a change (stop smoking, consume fewer calories, drinkless alcohol etc.) or to sustain a behaviour (take the tablets, follow the post-op advice etc.). Traditional doctor/nurse advice ("You should do xyz...") tends to produce resistance ("I can't do that because..."). And once this sets in, it actually makes failure more likely.
Our goal is to help you find and overcome difficulties and to leave you
Delegates are invited to explore their own challenges, compare notes with colleagues and learn some theory - and then practise some important and useable techniques in small group structured exercises. You should leave with a number of new ideas, words and phrases to make more headway with patients - and to make these consultations less frustrating for all parties!
