Frequently Asked Questions
Will the course suit experienced GPs?
As an
experienced GP it can sometimes be even harder to stay up to date whilst
juggling all the other demands on your time. This one day course will keep you
abreast of all the latest evidence and guidelines. Everything we cover on the
day (and much more) is fully referenced in the Handbook which makes a
great desktop textbook.
I'm sitting the nMRCGP, should I come?
Yes! We will
cover large parts of the nMRCGP curriculum during the course in a digestible
format (unlike the curriculum itself which is likely to give you severe
indigestion and a panic attack!). Past delegates have fed back to us that
the course is really useful for preparation for the MRCGP exams
Will the course help with the AKT exam?
Many of the
topics covered are just the sort of things that will come up in the AKT exam,
so the course is perfect preparation.
Specific feedback from ST1, 2 and 3s who have attended
the course included:
ST1
- 'Brilliant, I was wondering how to start learning about things that I'll need for primary care but that I've not come across in hospital.'
- 'Shone light where everything had been dark and confusing before.'
ST2

- 'New things mentioned I've never even heard of, thank goodness you'll be there next year before my exams.'

I've just been on maternity leave and think
my brain has gone to jelly - should I come on the course?
Yes! It's
hard to stay up to date at the best of times, even more so when you have to
manage the needs of a growing family as well. This one day course will give you
confidence in your own skills and abilities and the fully referenced
Handbookwill be invaluable in the consulting room. We know you may not
have had the most restful of nights since you gave birth but the lively and
entertaining nature of the presentation will keep you awake despite this!

returning to general practice- should I come on the course?

you have been off work due to illness, practicing in Outer Mongolia or just
returned from a sunny sabbatical in Sydney,
we will bring you up to speed with current practice and help to ease you back
into general practice.
