The Effective Consultation Course

'As last year – clear, relevant, more info than any one week course'

Increase Your Consultation Effectiveness - reduce your clinical and medico-legal risks

A one day small group course for GPs, GP Registrars and Practice Nurses.

The Effective Consultation Course from the GP Update team focuses on consultation behaviours which enhance effectiveness, reduce clinical risk and lower the risk of complaints (and even lawsuits).

Directed by Malcolm Thomas and Gill Fraser

In line with all our courses, delegates will find this an evidence based, entertaining, fast-paced, relevant and very practical day.We focus on actions and you will leave with many practical tips to use in your consulting room the following day.

Who should attend?

  • GPs who have never (or not recently) had any formal training in consultation effectiveness.
  • GP Registrars at all stages, including those revising for nMRCGP.
  • Practice Nurses and Nurse Practitioners whose work involves seeing new patients or reviewing those with chronic diseases.
  • GPs & Practice Nurses returning to practice after a career break or maternity leave
  • Aspiring GP Registrars - doctors contemplating applying to GP specialty training.

There is a rich evidence base in WHICH consultation behaviours enhance effectiveness and HOW to go about learning them.

The challenges in consulting with patients have changed (QoF is not the only culprit!) and many experienced doctors and nurses have received little or no training in consultation effectiveness like this in recent years.
