The AKT & GP Update Course is a 1 day course designed to help GP STs to prepare for the
AKT.
It covers a lot of the knowledge base including the latest evidence and
exam focussed material plus a strong emphasis exam technique. The course sets
out to make delegates feel much more comfortable with evidence interpretation.
We won't make any promises about pass rates but we do know that over
1,000 GP STs attended the GP Update Course last year and told us how useful it
was for their AKT preparation. So we thought we might go a step further and prepare a course that
covered a lot of the material from the GP Update Course, and some very specific
material for those preparing to sit the AKT.

Delegates on this course attend the main GP Update Course until mid
afternoon and then break off into a separate session to cover the very specific AKT
material, finishing at 6.00pm. Delegates on this course will receive a copy of the GP Update Handbook,
the GP Update Handbook Online plus a copy of 'Applied Knowledge Test for the
MRCGP' by By Nuzhet A-Ali (which usually costs £24.99).
The course is directed by Dr Aimee Lettis (our secret weapon!)
Aimee joined the GP Update team in 2011 and is a salaried GP at Mill
stream Surgery, Benson, Oxfordshire. Aimee has undertaken extended academic
training as a programme director on the Oxford
and Banbury GP ST
scheme. As part of this, she conducted a research programme aimed at
identifying the key reasons why candidates failed the AKT - everything we do at
GP Update is evidence based so we think that this puts Aimee in an excellent
position to direct this course!
